Huzur Shaykhul Islam Madani Miya
Madani Miya, a revered Sunni Muslim scholar, saint, and ascetic from Kichhauchha Sharif, stands as a senior and influential figure within the Ashrafi Silsila of Sunni Islam in India. His followers consider him the Mujaddid (reviver) of the present century. With a global following, he serves as the spiritual guide for thousands, including notable scholars like Allama Mukhtar Shah Naeemi and Mannani Miya.
Life
Born on 1st Rajab 1357 Hijri (27 August 1938) in Kichhauchha Sharif, Madni Miya belongs to the esteemed lineage of Hazrat Sayyed Makhdoom Ashraf Jahangir Simnani Rahmatullah Alaih. His initial education began in Kichhauchha, later continuing at Al-Jamiatul Ashrafiyah in Mubarakpur under the guidance of Hafiz-e-Millat, Hazrat Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz Muradabadi Rahmatullah Alaih. With over seventy years of dedication to Islamic teachings, he has profoundly impacted his community. He is the elder brother of Hazrat Hashmi Miyan Damat Barkatuhumul Aliya and the son of Allama Pir Syed Shah Muhammad Abul Muhamid Ashrafi al-Jilani (Mouhaddis-e-Azam-e-Hind).
Poetry
Writing under the pen name "Akhtar," Madni Miya has made contributions to Islamic literature through works like Tajalliyat-e-Sukhan, a two-volume collection spanning 254 pages, as well as Baran-e-Rahmat and Paraan-e-Dil, featuring a mix of Nazms and Ghazals.
Legacy
He is the founder of the Madani Miyan Arabic College in Karnataka and established the Muhaddis-e-Azam Mission in India in 1980. This mission now operates over 70 branches across India and more than 200 globally, including seven in the United Kingdom. His list of Khulafa (spiritual deputies) includes over 300 names worldwide, as compiled by Basharat Ali Siddiqui. Madni Miya announced Sayyed Hamza Ashrafi as his successor, or Janasheen.
Additionally, the "Madani General Hospital" in Surat was opened in his honor, and the manqabat "Mera Madni Ashraf aa gaya" is recited by devotees in his praise.
